Army ROTC is a challenging series of college electives which teach leadership and management skills. The program prepares both men and women for responsibilities as Second Lieutenants in the active Army, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard upon graduation.
The primary goal of Army ROTC is to train and prepare young men and women to become officers in the Army. As a new second lieutenant in the Army, you will most likely be in charge of up to 30 soldiers and hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars worth of equipment. You will assess the capabilities of your soldiers, maintain the unit's equipment, and prepare yourself and your soldiers to fight and win.
The experience you gain as an officer in the Army will put you far ahead of your peers in the job market. While they are working in an entry level positions at some firm or going on to graduate school, you will be gaining real world experience in leadership, management, resource planning, teaching, mentoring, and having the time of your life!
The Army will continue to educate you by sending you to various professional courses and offer you the change to excel in some of the toughest adventure training in the world. As a cadet in ROTC, you can also attend Army schools such as Airborne, Air Assault, Mountain Warfare and Northern Warfare during a few weeks each summer. All of these schools are hands on training where you will actually parachute from aircraft, rappel from helicopters, and do mountaineering in Alaska!
Take the challenge. Test your courage. Get ahead of your peers. Prepare for the future.
