Lori Murphy is a Program Coordinator for Anchor Link in the Student Organizations and Governance area of the Office of the Dean of Students. Lori is passionate about supporting the co-curricular student experience and values the opportunity she has to connect with students and staff members across the University through her work with Anchor Link.
Originally from St. Louis, Lori now considers Nashville to be her home. She graduated from Vanderbilt’s College of Arts and Science in 2011 with a BA in American Studies and minors in Managerial Studies and Spanish. During her undergraduate career Lori was involved with Vanderbilt Student Government, VUcept, Alpha Chi Omega sorority, Alternative Spring Break, Vanderbilt Catholic, and the Chancellor’s Hosts program.
Lori began her career in higher education at the University of Virginia where she focused on alumni engagement and student government advising. She was fortunate to receive an opportunity to return to Vanderbilt to work in the Office of the Dean of Students starting in July 2012 to oversee the new Anchor Link initiative. Lori serves as a member of the Standing Team on Leadership Excellence, a representative on the University Staff Advisory Council, and a young alumni class giving agent for the Vanderbilt Alumni Association.
Outside of work, Lori is a provisional advisor for the Junior League of Nashville, a member of the Nashville alumnae chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, and a volunteer with the Room in the Inn program through Christ the King Catholic Church. Eating is her favorite pastime and chocolate desserts are her biggest vice with two of her local favorites being the Rand brookie and Bricktops skillet cookie. She talks quickly, walks swiftly, and tries to make the most of each day.
