Conditions

  1. Vanderbilt Magazine reserves the right to reject or cancel any advertisement at any time, including such ads that do not, in the opinion of the magazine, conform to the standards of the publication. Vanderbilt Magazine will accept no advertising that is racially or sexually discriminatory, nor advertising that is deceptive or fraudulent in nature.
  2. Advertisers may not cancel orders for advertising after space-reservation deadlines.
  3. Positioning of ads is at the discretion of Vanderbilt Magazine, except when a request for a specific position is acknowledged by the magazine and approval is granted in writing.
  4. No classified, political, gambling or tobacco ads will be accepted.
  5. All advertisements are accepted and published by Vanderbilt Magazine upon the representation that the advertiser or agency is authorized to publish the entire contents and subject matter thereof. In consideration of Vanderbilt Magazine's acceptance of such ads for publication, the advertiser and agency will indemnify and hold the magazine harmless from and against any loss or expense arising out of publication of such ads, including, without limitation, loss or expense resulting from claims or suits of libel, violation of right of privacy, plagiarism, or copyright or trademark infringement.
  6. Vanderbilt Magazine is not responsible for errors in type set or approved by the advertiser.
  7. Any non-routine production work required as a result of insufficiently prepared advertising material will be billed to the advertiser.
  8. Advertisers should request that any ad materials be returned to them at the time they are submitted to the magazine; otherwise, these materials shall be destroyed.
  9. In the event an issue of Vanderbilt Magazine is not published for any reason during the seasonal time period stated in an advertiser's contract, Vanderbilt Magazine will extend the advertiser's contract by one issue to make up for the shortfall and will offer the advertiser a 25-percent discounted fee for the next issue in which the advertiser's ad appears. If the advertiser is not satisfied with these terms, the advertiser may choose to terminate the contract with no penalty.

    b) A 1.5% service charge per month, 18% per annum, shall be added to past-due invoices. Vanderbilt Magazine reserves the right to terminate the contract of an advertiser with a past-due account.
    c) In the event that any invoice or portion thereof is referred to an attorney or agency for collection, an additional charge for reasonable attorney's or collection fees shall be added to the advertiser's total balance due.
    d) Prepayment may be required of first-time advertisers.
