Gene CookAfter graduation, Gene stayed at Vanderbilt for a bit, working at the university in communications and fundraising. He then took a run at the dot-com dream in Nashville, co-founding a healthcare IT company that eventually went the way of most dot-coms. Leaving for California, Gene received a MBA at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He’s been at eBay for the past five years, currently subsidizing his own purchases on the site by working as senior manager for search. Gene successfully wooed and married Trish Elston Cook (BA’84, MA ‘90), and they have a 3-year-old son named Dylan who is obsessed with trains.
