Patricia KendallPatricia Kendall lives in Chicago and works as an attorney specializing in constitutional litigation for the City of Chicago. Patty returned to her hometown of Chicago after experiencing a variety of climates and cultures–both at home and abroad. After Patty earned her law degree from the University of Illinois, she clerked for the chief judge of the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Jackson, Miss. She left Jackson for a large Dallas law firm, then found that the public sector suited her better. After taking a year off to travel, Patty accepted a job with the City of Chicago’s law department, but remained drawn to international opportunities. In 1997, she was awarded a USAID Democracy Fellowship and lived in Jakarta, Indonesia, for three years, working at the U.S. Embassy on legal and judicial reform issues. Upon concluding her fellowship, Patty became an independent consultant working on judicial reform in developing countries. As a consultant, she returned to Indonesia often and worked in the Philippines, Kosovo, East Timor, Cambodia and Afghanistan. Now back in Chicago, Patty enjoys reconnecting with old friends, volunteering on interfaith issues at her church and quizzing her nieces and nephews on obscure geographic locations.
