Steve Turner

Steve Turner was a 1969 graduate of Vanderbilt University and will serve as the General Chairman of the 2009 Vanderbilt Reunion. He and his wife Judy are natives of Kentucky and made Nashville their permanent home in 1986. Prior to 1990, Steve served for 20 years in the management of Dollar General Stores, a pace-setting chain of discount general merchandise stores founded by his father, Cal Turner, Sr. Steve and Judy are die-hard Commodore fans and generous supporters of the University, including major initiatives at the Children’s Hospital, Blair School of Music, and the new Vanderbilt Center for Nashville Studies. The Turners have two adult children, Jay and Laura Anne, and two grandchildren, Katherine and Stephen. Jay Turner and his wife Christi are also Vanderbilt graduates, and Jay has a degree from the Vanderbilt Law School.
