Greetings to All 1978 Classmates!

It’s hard to believe 30 years have passed since we leapt (or were pushed) from the cozy dorms and classrooms of Vanderbilt into the rough-and-tumble world of marriages, mortgages, multiple jobs and careers, kids, tuitions, and graying hair. Since we left, the look of the “Hallowed Halls of Ivy” have been transformed with new and stunningly renovated buildings and extraordinary landscaping. The student body is much more diverse (nearly 10% of undergraduates come from outside the U.S.), and SAT scores are at an all-time high.

And yet, you will find much surprisingly unchanged. Rotier’s cheeseburgers are as good as ever, the chimes on Kirkland Hall sound the same, undergraduate teaching continues to be the main focus of an outstanding aculty, and Vanderbilt athletes go to class and graduate. 1978By coming to Reunion’08 this October 24-25, you can spend a weekend with a foot in both the old Vanderbilt and the new. It’s going to be a terrific celebration, and we need your presence and participation to make it complete. Please make your plans now to attend!

And don’t just come back—please give back. All of us have been shaped profoundly by our Vanderbilt experience and are beneficiaries of the generosity of those who came before us. Now is our opportunity to participate in handing that legacy of excellence on to present and future students.

Mark your calendars, and let us know if you would like to be involved in making our Reunion a great experience. We look forward to seeing you in October!

All the Best,

Nora Rich, Class Weekend Chair
Tony Almeida, Chris Perry and Frank Riddick, Class Fundraising Co-Chairs
