Former Chancellor Alexander Heard diesFormer Chancellor Alexander Heard dies

Alexander Heard, Vanderbilt's fifth chancellor and an education adviser to three U.S. presidents, died July 24 at his home after a long illness. He was 92. "No one feels more deeply than I do a sense of gratitude to Alexander Heard, who defined and set the standard for the office of chancellor of Vanderbilt University," Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos said at the July 29 service. "No one feels more acutely today the challenge of living up to his extraordinary standards." Full Story »
