Career program launches in cities hard hit by economy
According to a recent survey, 77 percent of Vanderbilt alumni say the most appealing Alumni Association benefit is continuing education programs.
To meet the growing demand, Career Moves workshops were held this fall in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Nashville, Washington D.C., New York, Dallas, Charlotte and Atlanta. A Chicago workshop is in the works.
The all-day workshops feature a local career consultant leading sessions on coaching and recruiting, networking, and online and social media strategies.

Career Moves is designed to assist Vanderbilt alumni at any level or time in their career.
James Stofan, associate vice chancellor for Alumni Relations, said, “We had more than 200 participants in our pilot program and found a broad diversity of alumni attended these events. Attendees included those who were out of a job, wanted to change careers or simply weren’t sure they were in the right job for them. Initial response has been extremely positive.”
