Vanderbilt University Army ROTC
As I write this our cadets have just finished an outstanding summer where fifty percent of our seniors received “excellence” ratings which blew away the national average. This performance is a true testament to the quality of our students in the program. This success comes with tireless work from our students, cadre, and our great alumni. Vanderbilt University Army ROTC is committed to maintaining a strong alumni presence in our program. Your experiences both in the military and the civilian sector are invaluable to our cadets and program. It is my goal to make 2013-2014 the most productive school year in alumni relations. We will hold our annual fall tailgate and in addition, we are planning a second alumni event in the spring of 2014 where I hope to unveil distinguished alumni to our improved Vanderbilt Army ROTC Hall of Fame. Your support or nominations for this event are always appreciated.
There is no question that your support is a vital component for the development of cadets. One of my top priorities this year is to develop an alumni mentoring program for our MSIV cadets. This program would link a mentor based on common branch (or previous branch) with a cadet who just received their branch.
Like all the programs and departments at this university we want the best for our cadets and in this time of belt tightening we are limited to what events our cadets participate in due to resources. If you have time, talent, or resources that can benefit this great organization please let me know.
On October 5th, VU Army ROTC Alumni are invited to join us for our annual Army ROTC Alumni Tailgate. The event will be held in the Army ROTC Conference Room at 1114 19th Ave South. Food will be served 2 hours prior to kick off of the VU v. Missouri football game. Please RSVP to Mr. Kenneth Walden phone (615) 322-8550, email kenneth.w.walden@Vanderbilt.Edu.
