Diversity
“We are committed to making the Vanderbilt experience as diverse and as inclusive as possible for all students.” Nicholas S. Zeppos, Interim Chancellor Vanderbilt University is unapologetically committed to diversity. We operate under the belief that racial, cultural, and socio–economic differences are essential to a well–rounded academic and social community. Vanderbilt celebrates and demonstrates diversity within its student body, faculty, staff, programming, and community initiatives. We strive each year to recruit a highly qualified freshman class from a variety of populations. Dr. Douglas Christiansen, Associate Provost for Enrollment and Dean of Admissions, believes “that top students management be found among all racial, ethnic, and socio–economic groups, and our recruiters work hard to identify them and to make them aware of the opportunities available to Vanderbilt students.” Diversity is nothing new to Vanderbilt and a commitment to diversity is not unique in the 21st century. Use the following links to see how we reach out to our community and beyond through extraordinary programs such as Project Dialogue, where we focus on societal issues with the help of guests that have included Naomi Wolf, Oliver Sacks, Al Franken, John Ashcroft, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. |
