Stacy strives to live according to one of her favorite quotes from Martin Luther King, Jr. “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” For Stacy, and for all of us, gender truly does matter and impacts all areas of our lives. Kacy Silverstein, Co-Director, Project Safe
Kacy graduated from Vanderbilt in the Spring of 2004, with a major in Anthropology and a minor in Women’s Studies. Since that time she has received her Master in Education from the Human Development Counseling Program at Vanderbilt. Kacy hopes to become a licensed professional counselor, working with women affected by trauma and violence. Kacy joined the Women’s Center in 2005, as the Associate Director of Project Safe, although she began working with the Project Safe program while still an undergraduate at Vanderbilt. While interested in a number of women’s issues both domestically and internationally, Kacy is most passionate about the movement to end violence against women and about advocating on behalf of the young women with which she works. She also spends time working with other social justice movements in Nashville, as well as trying to persuade her three younger sisters (and younger brother) to become involved with women’s issues. Kacy believes strongly in the Project Safe philosophy and loves her work with students, faculty, and staff on this campus.
