amyrao

Tampa, Fla. native Amy Rao joined NewsChannel5 in September, 2004 after two years of braving cold winters in Lansing, Mich.  In Michigan, Amy served as the crime and investigative reporter and weekend morning anchor at WLNS, the CBS affiliate.

Amy earned recognition for her work in Michigan, winning awards for hard news, series and investigative work from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press.

Amy graduated from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.  As part of a college program, she reported at KELO-TV in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for a few months.

A highlight of Amy's time at WTVF so far has been the opportunity to cover the Asian tsunami of 2004 with photojournalist Mike Rose.

Mike and Amy earned two Emmy's for their series and documentary about a local group of doctors doing relief work in Southern India.
