After School Program Success!
by Heather Jolly

The COPC North Nashville After School Programs have been extremely successful so far this year. This semester, all four programs are up and running with a tremendous show of kids each week!  Artreach has more than fifty students among four sites from the North Nashville community participating each week, and they will be visiting the Frist Center for the Visual Arts next month for the Picasso exhibit.  The LOOP has more than thirty students participating at two sites each week for tutoring, and they will be participating in Vanderbilt’s Playday on March 30th.  The LOOP has had a nutritionist visiting every month this semester to teach the students about healthy eating and good nutrition.  Shine has more than twelve girls participating in dance each week and will have their recital the end of April. Synergy has more than twenty students participating at two sites in the tutoring/mentoring and college prep program. Synergy has also had a nutritionist coming once a month to teach the students about healthy eating and good nutrition. Many students in the program have already started their college prep experience by getting prepared for the ACT and SAT, college visits with their mentor, and their individualized plan for getting into college. It is a very exciting time for the after school programs as they get ready to end the semester and prepare for next year’s programs.
