Beyond Tutoring on 12th Avenue

Advisor: Dr. Frank Dobson

Project Description:

Beyond Tutoring on 12th Avenue will seek to explore the complications of poverty in society and the American educational system.  The project’s primary goal will be to tutor and mentor the children living in housing projects on 12th avenue.  The group will provide these children with creative activities in addition to assistance with school work.  To strengthen the group members’ personal sensitivity to the effects of poverty, the students will read several novels and articles about the topic of poverty.
