Opened in August 2014, Warren College is located at the corner of West End Avenue and 21st Avenue South. Warren College provides state-of-the art accommodations inside gothic-style architecture reminiscent of historic Kirkland Hall. It houses 319 upperclass students in four, five and six-person suites as well as traditional double and single rooms. Students live on all floors of this five story building. Lounges, study areas, music rooms, conference rooms, as well as common kitchen and laundry facilities are provided for building residents. The fifth floor includes an apartment for the Faculty Director. The building is fully air conditioned. Corridors and common areas are carpeted. Student rooms have tiled floors.
One of Vanderbilt’s upper class college halls, residency in Warren College requires participation in the College Halls Meal Plan. The tentative cost for the 2015-2016 meal plan is $2,147 per semester. The tentative cost is subject to change pending final approval.
Warren College is named in honor of 1925 Vanderbilt graduate Robert Penn Warren, member of the influential Fugitive poets and the first poet laureate of the United States. It is divided into two halls:
- Delbrück Hall, named in honor of Max Ludwig Henning Delbrück, a professor of physics at Vanderbilt from 1940 to 1947 who received the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine in 1969;
- Elliston Hall, named in honor of Elizabeth Boddie Elliston, a 19th-century Nashville community leader who donated segments of her plantation to the original Vanderbilt campus.
The College is led by a Faculty Director. Each hall is led by a Graduate Fellow.
Warren College and Moore College are connected by a shared facility providing gathering space, “grab-and-go” dining options, a classroom, offices and meeting rooms.
