Amy Jarman joins visiting professor James Helton for recital at Blair

Soprano Amy Jarman will perform together with guest pianist Dr. James Helton for a recital performance on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. in the newly renovated Steve and Judy Turner Recital Hall at Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt.

Jarman and Helton first performed together in 1995 as faculty colleagues at Blair. Their collaboration is revived with Dr. Helton's return to the campus for his first performance since joining the piano faculty at Ball State University.

The concert includes songs by Franz Schubert, Peter Tchaikovsky, and Claude Debussy, and concludes with a cycle of Emily Dickinson poems, "The Shining Place," by American composer Lee Hoiby, whose works are known for their melodic beauty and sensitivity to text.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Blair School main office at 322-7651.
