Holocaust topic of lunch box lecture

The next installment of the popular “Thinking Out of the (Lunch) Box” lecture series features a conversation between Helmut Smith, associate professor of history, and Professor of Philosophy David Wood on “Imagining the Unthinkable: Teaching the Holocaust.” The lecture will feature strategies teachers can employ to help students appreciate the magnitude of the crimes of the Holocaust by using ordinary documents such as train schedules from the Third Reich. The box lunch and lecture series, sponsored by Vanderbilt and the Nashville Public Library, takes place Oct. 2 at the Main Library on Church Street and is free and open to the public. Lunch is catered by Provence Breads and Café, and required reservations can be made by calling 322-8585.
