Anderson The Vanderbilt Register, the University’s award-winning paper of record, will now be published online daily, Monday through Friday, with additional updates as events warrant. The Daily Register (www.vanderbilt.edu/register) is designed to communicate effectively with its busy readers through an uncluttered and intuitive design. The Daily Register will cover campus events and provide the latest news about Vanderbilt’s programs, people, policies and activities, along with photos and links to additional sources of information. A second part of the new approach is Register Express, a daily e-mail that will provide subscribers with a summary of the day’s news and links to more detailed stories and photos. Register Express will be delivered each day to subscribers free of charge. The third component, the newspaper, will continue to be distributed on alternating Mondays, beginning Sept. 30. The print edition of the Register will include feature stories, profiles, and news about Vanderbilt community, as well as calendar listings and classified ads. “I am very pleased that we will have even more channels of communication on campus,” said Chancellor Gordon Gee. “The Daily Register is a great service that will quickly become a must-read for faculty, staff and students.” Added Michael J. Schoenfeld, vice chancellor for public affairs, “The breadth of activity on this campus is remarkable. This new approach will help the Vanderbilt community stay informed about our activities, learn about policies and programs that affect your work and personal lives, and get a constantly changing view of the people who make up this great University — all in real time.” The communication strategy, which came about through months of planning and development, is expected to provide the University community a variety of ways to receive campus news. “Providing the Vanderbilt community with more news in a more timely manner is the goal of The Daily Register and the Register Express,” said Beth Fortune, associate vice chancellor for public affairs. “It will be especially helpful in providing breaking news and disseminating important announcements quickly, all with the same high quality and professionalism that is associated with the Register. At the same time, the biweekly printed Register will continue to cover in-depth the stories and people of Vanderbilt. ” To
