Saks chairman Brad Martin to speak at Owen School

Brad Martin, chairman and CEO of Saks Inc., will tell “The Saks Story” as part of the Owen Distinguished Speaker Series Oct. 21. The event is free and open to the public. Martin will tell how he grew the company from one that operated four Proffitt’s stores in Knoxville, Tenn., to the fourth largest department store company in the country. Saks Inc. now has annual revenues of more than $6 billion and more than 350 stores in 39 states operating under a variety of names, including Saks Fifth Avenue and Proffitt’s as well as Parisian, McRae’s, Younkers, Herberger’s, Carson Pirie Scott, Bergner’s, Boston Store and Saks Off 5th.
