The Department of History and the Faculty Senate are sponsoring a lecture and panel discussion on "History, Memory, and Confederate Hall," Friday, Oct. 18, at 4p.m. in Room 103 of Wilson Hall. Panelists include Karen L. Cox, assistant professor and director of public history at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the author of the forthcoming book, Dixie's Daughters: The United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Preservation of Confederate Culture; Paul Conkin, Distinguished Professor of History, emeritus; Dennis Dickerson, professor of history; Richard King, visiting professor of history; and Michael Schoenfeld, vice chancellor for public affairs. Don Doyle, the Nelson Tyrone Professor of History, will moderate the discussion, which is open to the public.
