at Vanderbilt

p.m.

Langford
Auditorium.
The
concert’s
program
includes

Joseph
Haydn’s
String
Quartet
D in
g minor,
op.
20,
No.
3, H.
III:
33 (1772);
Béla
Bartók’s
String
No.
3 (1927)
and
Franz
Shubert’s
Quartet
in d
minor,
D.810
“Death
and
the
Maiden”
(1824).
The
Grammy-award
winning
quartet,
which
recently
celebrated
its
25th
anniversary,
will
once
again
enthrall
Nashville
audiences
with
its
amazing
polish.
Critics
praise
the
ensemble
for
its
technical
mastery,
cohesiveness
and
broad
character
that
keeps
its
performances
fresh
and
interesting
for
audiences.
The
Quartet
took
its
name
from
the
great
American
poet
and
philosopher
Ralph
Waldo
Emerson.
Violinist
Eugene
Drucker
and
Philip
Setzer
alternate
in the
chair
position,
and
are
joined
by violinist
Lawrence
Dutton
and
cellist
David
Finckel.
The
Quartet
has
performed
numerous
benefit
concerts
for
causes
ranging
from
nuclear
disarmament
to the
fight
against
AIDS,
world
hunger
and
children’s
diseases.
