|
Grammy, Emmy and Academy award winning singer, songwriter, composer, and musician Randy Newman will be the first guest in the 2002-03 Blair School of Music's popular "Conversations Series” Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. in Blair's Ingram Hall. Newman will be in Nashville to perform with the Nashville Symphony on the Nov. 22-23. Moderated by Blair adjunct professor and series coordinator Deanna Walker, the Conversations Series provides a uniquely intimate forum for Mr. Newman to discuss aspects of his work as an artist. Other guests have included Mark Knopfler, Steve Earle, Amy Grant, Mike Reid, Beth Neilsen Chapman, Joshua Bell, Awadagin Pratt, Marty Stuart, and the late Chet Atkins, who was the first participant of the series. From popular hit singles to film scores, including the award winning Monsters, Inc., Toy Story, and A Bug's Life, Newman's long list of accomplishments is more than ample fodder for aspiring songwriters and composers. This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited; no tickets or advance reservations will be provided. All seating is general admission; guests will be seated on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information, call 322-7651. Posted
