Truman informational meeting
The Truman Scholarship Committee will nominate three Vanderbilt students
for this years awards. Students who have competed two academic years
of study by the beginning of the current semester and will qualify for
senior status by the beginning of the 2000-2001 academic year are eligible
to apply. The nominating committees selections will be based on the
following criteria: record of public and community service and activities;
commitment to careers in the public sector; leadership potential; intellectual
and analytical abilities; academic record and class standing. In a significant
change from previous years, universities may now nominate students who
intend to attend law school and work toward their J.D. degree.
There will be an informational meeting for interested students at 4
p.m., Sept. 23 in Room 200, Benson Hall. Those who cannot attend may
obtain an information sheet on the competition in the A & S Deans Office,
301 Kirkland Hall or contact Prof. Schwartz at 343-4328.
