Eighteen faculty members from Blair School of Music and one student played Carnegie Hall Sept. 25, 2000, while touring the East Coast with the Nashville Symphony. The group's performance was a hit. New York Times music critic Allen Kozinn described the program, which featured works by Ives, Strauss and Beethoven, as "mostly a knockout," and praised the orchestra for playing "with the energy of an ensemble out to impress."
