Associate Dean of School of Engineering named

Fleetwood

Dean Kenneth F. Galloway of the School of Engineering has announced the appointment of Daniel M. Fleetwood, professor of electrical engineering, as associate dean for research of the school of engineering.

Fleetwood, whose appointment was effective July 1, will split his time evenly between his new administrative duties and his research and teaching activities in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Fleetwood, who came to Vanderbilt in 1999 from Sandia National Laboratories, where he was a distinguished member of the technical staff, will be responsible for promoting and managing research for the School of Engineering. He will also help advance Vanderbilt multidisciplinary programs that involve the School of Engineering.

"Professor Fleetwood is an excellent teacher and researcher, and the School of Engineering has already received many benefits from his sound judgment and experience," Galloway said.

A fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Fleetwood obtained his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from Purdue University. His research is in low-frequency noise in thin-solid films, microelectronics, reliability and radiation effects.
