HEALTH Plus wants you to laugh, line dance and 'hold the stuffing'

HEALTH Plus is launching "Friends and Family Focus" classes this fall with lunch time and evening courses ranging from line dancing to humor in the workplace.

Employees who attend four or more classes will earn a HEALTH Plus T-shirt and will be entered in a drawing for the grand prize, a $100 shopping spree.

The series begins with the "Learn to Line Dance" classes slated for Oct. 17, 24 and Nov. 2, 7 from 5:15-6:15 p.m. Other courses include "Skills for Effective Communication" Oct. 17, "Children Cope With Divorce" (Oct. 19), "Positive Parenting" (Oct. 24 and 31), "Taking Care of Yourself and Family" (Oct. 20) and "Blood Pressure Control" (Nov. 7 and 14).

Registered dietician Sonja May will teach "It's in the Bag" Oct. 18 and "Stress Less Meal Preparation" Oct. 26, the latter course offering tips on how to prepare quick and easy meals and snacks, and the former dealing with how to make school lunches healthy.

"Hold the Stuffing" will begin Nov. 12. Employees who maintain their weight (with a gain of up to two pounds allowed) through New Year's will receive an insulated lunch sack stuffed with goodies from HEALTH Plus.

Employees interested in kicking their smoking habit should circle their calendars for The Great American Smokeout Nov. 13-17. Information or kits on quitting smoking may be picked up at HEALTH Plus.
