Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management is ranked
No. 22 nationally in the business school rankings by BusinessWeek
magazine, which are released in the current issue of the magazine.
The BusinessWeek rankings are based on surveys of 247 corporate
recruiters and 10,039 students at 82 business schools worldwide. The
magazine publishes its rankings every two years. The University of Pennsylvania's
Wharton School finished No. 1, a spot it has maintained since 1994.
"It is gratifying to receive this recognition for Owen's outstanding
faculty, students, staff and alumni," said Dean William G. Christie.
"The Owen School is well-positioned to build on these achievements.
We are fortunate to have a committed student body, world-renowned faculty
and a dedicated alumni base."
BusinessWeek also reported that there has never been a better
time to get an MBA. Recent graduates at one of the magazine's top 30
business schools received an average median pay package -- salary, bonus
and other compensation -- of $126,900, up 12 percent since the last
ranking in 1998.
The Owen School's ranking in the top tier of business schools is consistent
with its recent rankings in other publications, top 10 for e-commerce
by Business 2.0 (1999); No. 21 for U.S., No. 27 global and Top
10 in finance by the Financial Times (2000); No. 20 by Forbes
Magazine (2000); No. 1 by the Princeton Review (2000) for
the business school library; and No. 24, U.S. News and World Report
(2000).
