November slated as Open Enrollment for benefits

All eligible faculty and staff may enroll or change their accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), dental, health, and personal spending account (PSA) plans during Open Enrollment Nov. 1-30. Information regarding your benefit options was mailed to your home address the last week of October. Changes you should look for in Vanderbilt's benefits plans for 1998 include lower Prepaid Dental Care rates, changes in health care rates, and a new maximum allowable coverage of $500,000 for AD&D.

If you want to make a change or enroll in AD&D or dental care, please complete a new benefits enrollment form (available in the Benefits Office).

Health care plan changes or enrollment in personal spending accounts may be made Nov. 1-30 by calling the BENEPHONE at 1-800-638-4126. Participation in a PSA for the 1998 calendar year requires enrollment whether you have participated previously or not.

If you use the BENEPHONE you will receive a letter confirming the changes you made. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the Benefits Office will be closed Nov. .27 and 28. Forms brought to the Benefits Office before 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 will be accepted. Changes you make during Open Enrollment will be effective Jan. 1, 1998.

Benefits representatives, forms and information will be available in the Courtyard Cafe on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning Nov. 4.
