featured on magazine cover
by Lew Harris
Outgoing Vanderbilt Student Government Association Pres-ident Phil Ayres
was selected from campus leaders across the country to be featured on the
cover of the spring 1997 issue of Student Leader, the national leadership
magazine for America's most outstanding students.

The magazine is produced by Oxendine Publishing in Gainesville, Fla. Executives
with the magazine said they searched nationally for their cover subject
and picked graduating senior Ayres because of his vision and his overall
understanding of the University.
"Phil is an ethical, caring individual who grasps the big picture
of motivating and supervising others. He'll be among our nation's best business
or political leaders in the future," said W.H. "Butch" Oxendine,
publisher of Student Leader magazine.
More than 900 colleges and universities subscribe to Student Leader magazine.
It is read by leaders of student governments, campus clubs and Greek organizations
nationally. The magazine with Ayres on the cover was mailed out in early
April.
