Associate dean of student affairs participates in Fulbright seminar
Mindy Dalgarn, associate dean of student affairs at Vanderbilt, was selected by the Council for the International Exchange of Scholars to participate in the 2001 Fulbright Seminar for U.S. Administrators in International Education. The two-week group seminar on German higher education included briefings, selected government meetings, campus visits and cultural events. Dalgarn, who earned her Ed.D. in school administration from Vanderbilt's Peabody College, will join approximately 25 American university and college administrators in Germany to focus on international education. Dalgarn is involved with several international programs on the Vanderbilt campus including the Overseas Office of Campus Recreation, International Student and Scholar Services, and English for Internationals. "As Vanderbilt embarks on a new and innovative venture to advance the international program on campus, I see this as an opportunity to learn from colleagues around the world. Of primary importance to me is how we at Vanderbilt might better meet the needs and expectations of our 1,026 international students, 509 scholars and 800 dependents from 96 countries," Dalgarn said. The seminar, conducted by the Fulbright Commission, took place May 519. Participants spent the first week in Berlin and then traveled to Mecklenberg-Vopmmern for several days. The final portion of the program took place in Hamburg.
