Rhiane Brooks celebrated the accomplishments of Law School graduate Bari Rhiana Brooks. Rock McLean was awarded a master's degree from Peabody College eight days after he donated a kidney to Steve Smith, the son of faculty member Deborah Smith. Sadie Haddock, 1, watched the ceremony on the Wyatt Center Lawn at Peabody with her mother Kelsey Haddock. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao delivered the Commencement address at the Owen Graduate School of Management. Sister Mary Diana Dreger, a graduate from the School of Medicine and a Dominican nun, is the first person from the St. Cecilia Convent to earn a medical degree. More than 26,200 Jumbo Red Driscoll Strawberries were served following the ceremonies. A&S graduate Amy Palma passed the time as the names of her 1,301 undergraduate classmates were called. Cormac Egenton graduated from the Blair School of Music, as denoted by the pink tassel. At more than 7 feet tall, Darius Coulibaly was heads and shoulders above his Peabody classmates. Christine Thomas, a graduate from Peabody College, cries tears of joy with her mother Susan before the ceremony. Chancellor Gee was photographed with 85 families by a professional photographer on Ambassador Lawn. Despite area showers in the early morning hours, candidates for degrees and the estimated 17,000 audience members enjoyed sunny skies and moderate temperatures during the ceremony on Alumni Lawn.
