Key Data: The Vanderbilt
Institutional Research Group compiles official facts and figures for
University and makes them available to internal administrative users
as well as institutional researchers and casual visitors across the
country. The VIRG Web site is a repository for a wide range of data
including strategic data for administrative users and public information
such as the Common Data Set and University Fact Book.
"Our goal is to provide reliable and objective data for a wide range
of people and to support Vanderbilt's vision for the future by fostering
the availability and use of accurate decision-making data," said Greg
Perfetto, assistant provost and director of special projects. The Factbook
provides detailed profiles consisting of demographic information about
Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff and a financial overview including
information about the endowment, tuition rates and financial aid funds
awarded to students. As a contributor to the Common Data Set,
Vanderbilt joins other higher education institutions in providing standard
data-items useful in making comparisons with other colleges and universities.
Because the VIRG site posts Vanderbilt's annual CDS information beginning
with 1999, visitors also may evaluate the University against itself
and see trends as they develop over time. Browsers must be equipped
with Macromedia Flash to access the VIRG site.
