In Vanderbilt History ...
On
March 17, 1973, the University celebrated the 100th anniversary of Cornelius
Vanderbilt's $1 million gift to establish the University. In honor of
familial generosity, Vanderbilt University entertained 124 of the Commodore's
descendants on campus.
