Foster's women's basketball team earned their third SEC championship
title by defeating the LSU Lady Tigers at the Gaylord Entertainment
Center March 3. Post-season honors continue to mount for the team,
which tied record-high regular season wins with 24 and will advance
to the NCAA Tournament. Chantelle Anderson was named SEC Player
of the Year and, along with teammate Zuzi Klimesova, was named
to the All-SEC first team. Ashley McElhiney was named to the All-SEC
second team. Anderson is also a finalist for the prestigious Naismith
Award, and ESPN the Magazine Player of the Year and Center
of the Year. Klimesova, who was twice named SEC Player of the
Week in the 2001-02 season, was also named to the All-SEC Academic
Honor Roll and Verizon Academic All-America Team. Tickets for
the first and second rounds of the Women's NCAA Tournament, which
will take place at Memorial Gymnasium March 15-18, will go on
sale at McGugin Center March 11 at 8:30 a.m. SEC championship
memorabilia will also be on sale at McGugin Center through March
13, as well as at the Vanderbilt Bookstore while supplies last.
