Key Data:
Labor data records will now be available faster and easier thanks to the new
Web Access to Labor Information Web site. Since the labor data consists of hours
worked and wages earned, the new site will guarantee the privacy of Vanderbilt
employees by making it available to only those who have security approval and
possess an appropriate e-password. The site will provide quicker and more secure
labor data reports, customizable options and access to labor information from
as far back as July 2000. "The Web site allows users to create reports that
better fit their needs, and the step-by-step program walks users through the
application," said Jennifer Karpinski, associate in management and member of
the project team for the Web site. In the past, labor reports were printed on
Mondays, and Vanderbilt administrators and administrative assistants would often
have to wait days to receive the most recent labor information. Now the data
can be viewed and printed first thing on Monday mornings. The Web site, which
launched June 3, offers data that can be downloaded into an Excel or text file
that can be easily printed. Labor reports will continue to be distributed in
paper form until July 8, at which point the Web Access to Labor Information
Web site will become the preferred medium for access to labor data.
