In the final issue of each month, the Register publishes grants in excess of $25,000 that were awarded the previous month. The Division of Sponsored Research received notification in June that the following grants had been awarded:

Alfred B. Bonds III, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the School of Engineering, has been awarded a grant of $248,602 by the Public Health Service for "Spatial Characteristics of Neurons in the Striate Cortex."

 

Alan R. Bowers, Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering in the School of Engineering, has been awarded a grant of $65,000 by Delta Airlines for "Commercial Aircraft Deicing and Antiicing." John A. Roth is co-principal investigator.

 

Kenneth C. Catania, Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Arts and Science, has been awarded a grant of $133,748 by the Public Health Service for Development and Organization of Somatosensory Cortex."

 

Lynn S. Fuchs, Department of Special Education in Peabody College, has been awarded a grant of $700,000 by the Department of Education for "Center to Accelerate Student Learning." Douglas H. Fuchs is co-principal investigator.

 

Judy Garber, Kennedy Center in Peabody College, has been awarded a grant of $246,861 by the Public Health Service for "Treatment of Depression in Parents: Impact on Children."

Steven D. Hollon, Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Science, has been awarded a grant of $113,425 by the Public Health Service for "Cognitive Therapy and Pharmacotherapy for Depression."

 

Carl H. Johnson, Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Arts and Science, has been awarded a grant of $80,127 by the Department of Defense for "Cell-permeable Circadian Clock Proteins."

Kazuhiko Kawamura, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the School of Engineering, has been awarded a grant of $208,685 by the Department of Defense for "Research Interactive in Human-Robot Interaction." Mitchell D. Wilkes is co-principal investigator.
