PR veteran Loftis joins Public Affairs

Susanne Loftis, most recently vice president of public relations at J.C. Bradford & Co., has joined the Vanderbilt News Service as a public affairs officer.

Loftis, who began work Jan. 2, takes on the newly constituted assignment of News Service liaison with the Owen Graduate School of Management and the Law School.

She has more than 13 years' experience in public relations, both in corporate and agency settings, and is an active community volunteer. She was vice president for communic ations and marketing at Guardsmark, a private security company in Memphis; a communications specialist for Willis Corroon Corporation, the international insurance brokerage firm, and an account manager for The Ingram Group public relations firm.

Loftis spent her early career as an editor at The Reflector in Starkville, Miss., and a news reporter at The Commercial Appeal in Memphis. Her community involvement includes service on the boards of directors of the Oasis Center and the Special Olympics of Tennessee.

Loftis holds both a bachelor's degree in English and communications, and a master's degree in English from Mississippi State University in Starkville.
