Black History Month
A survey of works by African-American artist Ron Adams
will open Feb. 10 at the Fine Arts Gallery. Ron Adams Master Printmaker:
A Survey of Work, 1984-1999 is being held to coincide with Black History
Month. A reception honoring the artist will be held Feb. 10 from 5 to

of a Master Printer beginning at 5 p.m. in Room 206 of the Fine Arts

Born in 1934 in Detroit, Adams studied drawing, technical illustration
and commercial art at a broad range of schools. As a printer, he has
worked with leading contemporary artists, including Jasper Johns, Judy
Chicago and Luis Jimenez. In 1987, he turned exclusively to producing
his own art, works characterized by insightful depictions of African
Americans. Ron Adams, Master Printmaker is supported through the generosity
of the Louise Bullard Wallace Foundation. Adams lecture is sponsored
by the Fine Arts Gallery, the Department of Fine Arts and the University
Lectures Committee. Additional support is provided by the Bishop Joseph
Johnson Black Cultural Center. The exhibit of Adams works will run
through March 19. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday,
and 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call the
