In Vanderbilt History ...
The
spring semester of 1983 showed an unusual
amount of activity on the Vanderbilt campus due to the filming of The
Cradle Will Fall, a CBS TV movie.
The Tennessee Film Commission recommended Vanderbilt as a possible location
to shoot portions of the film, which was based on the mystery novel by
Mary Higgins Clark, The Cradle Will Fall. The story is of a woman
who finds her life in danger from a deranged doctor. Chancellor Emeritus
Alexander Heard's Office served as the doctor's office, and other portions
were filmed at the Medical Center. During the filming, Vanderbilt was
host to many notable actors, including Lauren Hutton, James Farentino,
Ben Murphy, and many stars from the cast of the soap opera Guiding
Light.
