Kaiser named chair of Peabody dean search committee

Provost Thomas G. Burish has named a committee, chaired by Professor and Chair of Special Education Ann P. Kaiser, to search for a new dean of Peabody College.

James W. Pellegrino announced in September that he would resign as dean of the college of education and human development effective August 1998. The Frank W. Mayborn Professor of Cognitive Studies, Pellegrino will return to teaching and research at Peabody.

Named to the committee, in addition to Kaiser, are Felix A. Boateng, director of the Bishop Johnson Black Cultural Center; Dennis C. Bottorff, Board of Trust vice president; John D. Bransford, Centennial Professor of Psychology and co-director of the Learning Technology Center; Paul K. Conkin, Harvie Branscomb Distinguished Professor of History; Robert L. Crowson, professor of education leadership; Carolyn Evertson, professor of education and chair of Teaching and Learning; James W. Guthrie, director of the Peabody Center for Education Policy and professor of public policy and education leadership; James H. Hogge, professor of psychology and chair of the Peabody Faculty Council; Kathleen Hoover-Dempsey, associate professor of psychology; Travis Thompson, professor of psychlogy and director of the John F. Kennedy Center; and Mark Wait, dean of the Blair School of Music.
