Two hundred Vanderbilt freshmen -- 100 male, 100 female -- began their college careers last week with three nights of camping and exercises in teambuilding on Percy Priest Lake at the second annual Squirrel Camp, an innovative orientation program sponsored by the Dean of Students Office.

The orientation was held at Camp Widjiwagan at the Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center on Percy Priest Lake. According to Michelle Jerome Rosen, director of student activities, the purpose of the camp is to get the students to work together. Although the objectives center on teambuilding, the participating students, faculty and staff typically have fun in the process.
