University Staff Advisory Council elects new members to two-year termsThe University Staff Advisory Council recently elected 33 new representatives. The USAC is composed of staff who fall into one or more of the following categories: full-time, part-time, exempt, nonexempt, nonfaculty, nonunion eligible and nonmedical employees of the University. As established in its bylaws, the purposes of the USAC are to serve as an advisory group to administration and staff on various problems and policies that affect the University, to maintain communication between university staff and administration, and to maintain communication among staff of the University. Members of the council serve two-year terms as representatives of one of 32 designated campus groups. The USAC rotates on staggered terms with odd-numbered groups being elected one year and even-numbered groups the following year. This year, 775 votes were cast to elect the new members. Meetings, which take place the second Tuesday of every month from 8:30 to 10 a.m., are held in Room 189 of Sarratt Student Center and are open to the community. All staff members are welcome to serve on committees.
