ASK THE EXPERTS

Q: Exactly how is Vanderbilt connected to the Internet, and how much does it cost per month?

A: Vanderbilt's portal to the Internet is via a 25 megabytes-per-second connection provided by Sprint. We are currently scheduled to replace this connection in August with a 45 Mbps direct connection to the Internet provided by AT&T. In addition to the connection to the Internet, Vanderbilt has a connection to a collection of national and international research and education networks collectively known as the Internet2, with a capacity of 155Mbps. Due to contractual agreements, we cannot publish the cost information for these connections.
