Human Resources Services moves customer service to new location

All customer service areas for Human Resource Services formerly located in the Peabody Administration Building have been moved to the second floor of the 2525 West End Building. Suite 218 is the new location for HRS. The campus address, phone numbers and e-mail addresses for the areas will remain the same. For more information, call 322-8330.

 

Three Commodores draw SEC league honors

Meredith Ward and Nicki Cutler were named to the 2002 all-SEC second team and Courtney Wood earned honorable mention honors, the league office announced April 22. This marks the first time Vanderbilt has landed three players on the SEC honor team. Ward, a senior from Crystal Lake, Ill., has five Top 10 finishes in 10 events, averaging 75.3 strokes per round this year. Cutler, a junior from Englewood, Colo., has six Top 5 performances to date for this season. Last weekend she was second at the SEC Championships, one of two tournaments she played under-par. She averaged 74.8 over 28 rounds of competitive play. Wood, a sophomore from had a 4-under par 68 in the last round of the SEC Championships to finish in a tie for 15th place. She also won the VU Triangular April 12 against Belmont and Middle Tennessee State. The SEC used scoring during official tournament rounds to select its team.

 

Temporary structure provides office space during sprinkler installation

A temporary structure has been installed behind Branscomb Quadrangle in order to add sprinkler systems to Branscomb. The structure will serve as office space for the Office of Housing staff members until the completion of the project in August 2003, at which time it will be removed.

 

'Call to Serve' campaign launched April 22

Chancellor Gordon Gee joined more than 340 college and university leaders in a national "Call to Serve" campaign to address the federal government's looming workforce crisis. The official launch of the campaign was in Washington, D.C., April 22. Campuses which sign on to "A Call to Serve: Leaders in Education Allied for Public Service" will help make federal service come alive for students by sponsoring campus events on federal careers, highlighting alumni who are making important contributions at federal employees and encouraging leaders to speak about government. The campaign will be facilitated by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and the Partnership for Public Service, a non-partisan, non-profit organization aimed at recruiting and retaining excellence in federal civil service.

 

Recycle household items for Goodwill until May 5

Eight Goodwill drop-off centers will be accepting clothing, books, appliances, furniture, rugs and other usable items to benefit Goodwill Industries. Items can be recycled at drop-off centers from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until May 5. Drop-off centers are located at Branscomb Quadrangle, Kissam Hall, Chaffin Hall, Mayfield Hall, Carmichael Towers East, Carmichael Towers West, the Baptist Student Union and the Darcee Building behind Gillette Hall. Discount season tickets offered to faculty and staff

Full-time Vanderbilt faculty and staff are eligible to purchase two football season tickets for a reduced price in a designated area. Additional season tickets may be purchased at full price closest to the designated area. Season football tickets for faculty and staff may be ordered at a reduced rate by visiting www.vucommodores.com. Those wishing to purchase tickets should click on "tickets" and then on "faculty/staff." After selecting and printing the "faculty/staff order form," deliver the form to VU Ticket Office, P.O. Box 129001, Nashville, TN 37212-9001. Those who wish to pay by payroll deduction must deliver the payroll deduction orders by May 15. For more information, call 322-GOLD.

 

Student Rec offers summer membership

The Student Recreation Center is offering summer membership to the Nashville community as well as alumni, faculty, staff and their spouses or dependents. Membership will run May 4-Aug. 16. Aquatics, wellness and fitness programs, classes and clinics, among other programs will be offered. Membership costs $38 for faculty, staff, alumni, spouses and dependants or $124 for a family of four; and $100 for community members. Susan Gray School fund-raiser to celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Friends, families and supporters of the Susan Gray School will celebrate Cinco de Mayo II, a fund-raising event for the Susan Gray School at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 4. The fiesta -- with food, drinks, live music and a silent auction -- will be held on the patio of the John F. Kennedy Center, at the corner of 21st and Edgehill avenues. The annual event began last year. Funds raised from last year's event supported the Playground Renovation Project at the school. LPGA seeks volunteers for May tournament at Vanderbilt's Legends Club


The Aerus Electrolux USA Championship, which attracts the best women golfers in the world and is hosted at Vanderbilt's Legends Club of Tennessee, is looking for volunteers to help during the LPGA tournament May 9-12.
