13 Questions With . . .

What do you do at Vanderbilt?
I serve as the primary contact for the compensation
office in the HR department.
How long have you worked at Vanderbilt?
One year and four months.
What book are you currently reading?
The Killer Angels. I just finished The Things They Carried
and decided to go back and read about the Civil War.
What were your favorite bands when
you were in high school?
Ween and Led Zeppelin. In junior high, it was Black Sabbath.
Favorite Nashville restaurant?
I'll have to choose from both ends of the spectrum -- Rotier's and
Sitar.
Where did you go to college?
Kenyon College. I majored in art history.
Tell us something about yourself that
would surprise your co-workers.
Maybe my artistic ability. If they saw some of the work I have done
in the past -- mixed-media stuff, high school art and weird-to-be-weird
art -- they'd probably be pretty surprised.
What is your most underutilized talent
or skill?
Also, my artistic ability. I like to paint, but I just can't ever
find the time or space. I'm working on it though.
What tape or CD is currently in your
car's player? The new Bill Frissel album with Dave Holland and Elvin
Jones is a big hit. But you should know that I don't actually have a CD
player in my car.
Name your public passion.
Did you say "public fashion"? I'm a big fan of the bald look.
Who would you want to play you in
a movie about your life?
Johnny Depp. He would need to use the same make-up artist who prepared
him for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. And he'd have to have,
you know, a bald cap.
Describe your perfect day.
I'd wake up around 9:30 a.m., then have breakfast at Rotier's. Next,
a nice scenic drive to a rural area in Tennessee, where I'd enjoy the
outdoors and eat the lunch that I brought with me from home. Oh, and this
is all with a friend or with my girlfriend. After lunch, we would head
home and grill out for dinner, then maybe catch a show. This is all taking
place in the spring, by the way.
What is the most fulfilling part of
your job?
The people I work with. They are really what keep me here.
