Vanderbilt faculty recognized for teaching excellence

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Six members of the Vanderbilt University faculty have been included in the fifth edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers, 1998." Vanderbilt's six will be among 130,000 teachers listed in this year's edition.

"Who's Who Among American Teachers" is designed to honor excellence in teaching as recognized by America's best high school and college students. Selection is based on the nomination of one or more former students who have been listed in either "Who's Who Among American High School Students" or "The National Dean's List."

The honored faculty come from the Blair School of Music and the College of Arts and Science. They are Cornelia Lord Heard, associate professor of violin; Richard J. Larsen, associate professor of mathematics; Douglas A. Lee, professor of musicology; Gerald J. Stubbs, professor of molecular biology; John A. Vasquez, professor of political science; and Joy Elizabeth Worland, adjunct artist teacher of horn.
