NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- J. W. Marriott Jr., chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Marriott International, Inc., will visit the Vanderbilt campus Oct. 27 to talk about religion and its effects on both his personal life and business career.
Marriott, who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, will present "Why I Believe" at 7 p.m. in Room 110 of Averbuch Hall in the Owen Graduate School of Management, 401 21st Ave. South. The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Latter Day Saint Student Association.
In addition to his work at Marriott International, Marriott is a director of Host Marriott Corporation, Host Marriott Services Corporation, General Motors Corporation, the U.S.-Russia Business Council and the Naval Academy Endowment Trust. He also serves on the boards of trustees of the National Geographic Society and Georgetown University, and on the advisory board of the Boy Scouts of America.
Parking will be available at the Wesley Place parking garage, located at 2043 Scarritt Place, in spaces 404 and higher.
