NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Mary L. Schapiro, president of the National Association of Security Dealers Regulation, Inc., will speak to students at Vanderbilt's Owen Graduate School of Management Wednesday as part of the Owen Lecture Series.

Schapiro, who will speak at 12:40 p.m. at Averbuch Auditorium in Management Hall, is responsible for enforcing legal and ethical actions within the brokerage industry. Her agency is the self regulator and operator of the Nasdaq Stock Market.

Schapiro's appearance is particularly timely because the National Association of Securities Dealers Inc. Monday appointed former government officials and several shareholder advocates as directors in response to criticism that it was dominated by industry insiders.
