NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Two Atlanta attorneys, Wayne S. Hyatt and
Edward J. Hardin, recently received the Vanderbilt School of Law Distinguished
Service Award.
The award is given annually to the person or persons who best represent
the traditions of excellence and professionalism of the Vanderbilt Law School
and who have made outstanding contributions to the school. Hyatt and Hardin,
both members of the Class of 1968, received the award March 29 at the school's
leadership dinner.
Hyatt, a 1965 graduate of Vanderbilt's College of Arts and Science, is a
principal in the law firm of Hyatt & Stubblefield, where he has a national
practice in real estate law.
As chair of the Law School's National Annual Fund, Hyatt led a successful
effort to involve more alumni in the Law School and he recruited extensive
Law School alumni support for "The Campaign for Vanderbilt." He
established the Law School's first Loan Repayment Program and was a member
of the Law School Alumni Board from 1990 to 1994. He serves as the Law School
representative to the Vanderbilt University National Alumni Association.
Hardin, who received his undergraduate degree at Wesleyan University, is
a senior partner with Rogers & Hardin, where he specializes in corporate
and securities law. As a law student, he served as editor-in-chief of the
Vanderbilt Law Review.
Hardin served as president of the Law School Dean's Council from 1990 to
1994 and has been a member of the Law School Alumni Board since 1990. He
initiated the fund-raising effort to endow student scholarships in honor
of Law School alumnus and former Professor of Law and Assistant Dean John
S. Beasley II, Vanderbilt's vice chancellor for alumni and development.
